Carol Sylva

I grew up on a river. We ran wild all summer. Exploring, crabbing, fishing and just playing.  My childhood instilled in me a strong connection to the earth.  I have two boys and in raising them I began to realize that their childhood was slipping away without these experiences that bound them to the earth.  I began my own path back closer to the earth.  Searching for the faith and security I had had in it as a child.  I knew I had to change things myself in order to recapture my children's childhoods.

My sister had been taking tracker classes and had been teaching me (although I didn’t realize it – coyote-) for years.  I had read most of Tom’s books.  I knew someday I would go to the Tracker School.  In January of 2009 I knew I had to go, I knew it was time and I took Standard in May 2009, then took my boys to COTEF that July.  I am grateful and passionate about the community I have found for myself my boys.

I have a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Maryland at Baltimore. In addition to raising my boys and caring for my family I have served on numerous boards and committees related to education and health care.
