Way of the Woods

Program Description:

This course dives deeper into the survival skills and craft work that were introduced in the Family, Youth and Teen Experience. We will teach advanced shelter, flint knapping, quickie bow making, advanced fire techniques, primitive cooking methods, hide tanning, coal burning bowls, pottery, adapting modern materials to survival, and much more. As we create from nature we build our relationship with it and really start to experience living as one with the Earth.

Ages and Prerequisites:
Ages 7-17 and/or families
This program is designed for families to attend together and is open for youth and teens age 10-17 to attend alone. Parents who accompany their children must participate in the program with their children. During the program, kids are divided into age appropriate groups and the parents, while participating sometimes with their children, also have their own group to learn the skills.
Students must have completed the Family, Youth and Teen Experience program or the equivalent before attending.


July 15-20
Holmes, NY- Camp Ludington


$690 per person
Deposit:            $200 per person attending is due at registration. 
Balance:           The balance must be paid in full 2 weeks before attending the program (July 1).
                            If paying by credit card, you may indicate if you’d like us to
                           automatically charge the balance at the due date.

Bridge Program:  If you will be staying for more than one week and would like to stay at camp between programs the following fees cover from noon on Friday until the next program begins on Sunday.  
      Youth or Teen:  $95 for Bridge Program (for unaccompanied minors)
      Family:  $50 per person (includes food and camping only, no supervision or programming)

 How to Register:

Online Registration:

Complete the forms for your family online and pay by credit card. You may choose to pay a deposit now and the balance two weeks prior to the camp or the full fee at this time. Note, all online class deposits are $200 per person, regardless of the program. Once you select your program you can choose to add the Bridge Program if applicable. Please note, there is a fee charged at the time of registration for using the online service. You can complete all necessary documents online. Please note however, that those attending the summer programs in Holmes, NY must have the medical form signed by a physician prior to coming to camp.

You will receive a confirmation including directions and equipment lists upon receipt.
